It’s just kind of lame, that’s all. I mean, my grandmother was a German emigre and if Die Mannschaft made the final I would by no account feel obligated to buy a German flag. I’m sure you believe the ties between Spain and her people are somehow stronger than those between Germany and hers but methinks I just have enough cognition to realize that Germany’s soccer team neither needs or wants my support. I’ll root for my own countrymen. I appreciate the best beauty tips of the Spanish or Dutch style of soccer but you won’t find me stringing together some abstract relation on how their successes somehow reflect well on my person.
