French Translations of the Bible

The first known French Translations of fragments of the Bible date back to mid-12th century. The Bible, used by Charlemagne was a manuscript made by Raul d’Presli in 1377. In 1476 a French Translation of the text of the New Testament was printed in Lyon. Two years later Jean d’Reli printed his “Great Bible” adapted from the text of Girardot de Mulins from the late 13th century. The first officially published edition of the New Testament translated from Greek into French dates from 1523. It was edited by Simon Colines and is extremely rare, especially the fifth volume.
