About

Vision - Where we want to be

The Cedar Times, launched on Lebanese Independance day on November 22nd 2008, is a nonprofit and nonpartisan online magazine whose long term vision is to be a platform for unifying Lebanese and promoting the Lebanese identity around open, diversified and enriching views and actions.

Mission - What do we do

To get closer to that vision, the Cedar Times fosters the international exchange of perspectives and information between Lebanese within and outside Lebanon by pusblishing articles written by Lebanese Expatriates worldwide expressing their views on Lebanon and the activities of the Lebanese diaspora in cultural, professional, and social related matters in their hosting country.

Operation - How do we do it

While no accurate numbers are available regarding the Lebanese Diaspora, and while estimates on the total size of the diaspora vary wildly from a conservative estimates of 4-5 million to a maximum figure of 15 million, The Cedar Times considers the Lebanese Expatriates as being a core element of the Lebanese society and the Lebanese identity.

With this in mind, the Cedar Times is being promoted by expatriates themselves through a network of Lebanese volunteers in various countries with a common goal of providing a politically and religiously neutral media and platform to promote the Lebanese identity.

It is through this common and global platform that the Cedar Times will first share and folster views about Lebanon as well as publish news about the Lebanese community activities worldwide.

At a later stage and as Cedar Times becomes self sufficient, on top of the shared views and community news, our Lebanese volunteers will be collaborating around the execution of specific projects and actions on the field in Lebanon to promote the Lebanese neutral identity (in a non political or religious affiliated way)
