What about a mixture of oriental and jazz music?

The music of Philippe El Hage, who is currently residing in Paris, is a perfect mix of oriental and western sounds resulting in an original and intriguing form of Jazz. His first Album, called Byblos, was released on the 20th of December of 2007 in Europe and the Middle East. Since the huge success of his album, Philippe EL HAGE has been performing many concerts in various countries like France, Italy, Brazil or Switzerland.

But what brought this Lebanese young talent to this oriental jazz success?

Philippe was born in Lebanon in 1979. He graduated with a French Literature degree from the University of Saint Joseph but then he quickly moved to Paris to purse his passion for music. Indeed, after having approached the piano with a private teacher, Philippe started in year 2000 his musical studies at the conservatory of Boulogne Billancourt in France. He continued his studies of piano and musical formation at the Rueil-malmaison conservatory in the class of Chantal Riou where he obtained a gold medal-First price Diploma. Philippe also followed the jazz workshops of David Patrois (Gabriel Faure Conservatory) and studied modern harmony and improvisation with Francois Popineau .

With this enriching background, Philippe  gave classical and improvised concerts in Lebanon, Italy and France. Since year 2006, he created his own music project : a mixture of oriental and jazz music.

Some of his latest album songs can be heard on his site: http://www.myspace.com/elhagephilippe

We will certainly closely watch and listen to this new rising talent.
